Environmental Chemistry

In the Environmental Chemistry Department, we analyse and assess the impact of the behaviour of chemical substances that enter the environment either intentionally (e.g. plant protection products) or unintentionally (e.g. biocides, pharmaceuticals).

In the Environmental Chemistry Department, we analyse and assess the impact of the behaviour of chemical substances that enter the environment either intentionally or unintentionally. We investigate the substance interactions between environmental chemicals and the biosphere. We are a connecting link with a broad interdisciplinary approach, ranging from geosciences, biology, agriculture and chemistry to special biochemical and analytical issues

  • Degradation
  • Transport & Dispersion
  • Accumulation
  • Reactions

In addition, we develop new scientific analytical methods and test systems to assess the environmental behaviour of these substances as realistically as possible.
