The new method "SAFE" - Sicheres Abwehrsystem Für den Eichenprozessionsspinner (Safe control system for the oak processionary moth) should be used for the control of the oak processionary moth in urban areas in places where a treatment by spray application is not possible.
After successful field testing of the stem applicator, jointly developed by the University of Kaiserslautern and the RLP AgroScience, the IfA has now registered the method at the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin, BauA). To facilitate the recognition and commercialization of the process, a figurative mark was also registered at the German Patent and Trademark Office (Deutsches Patent- und Markenamt). The RLP AgroScience provides the process to interested parties from cities and local communities.
